When attending a service, you might experience people's behavior under the presence of the Holy Spirit. Several
examples include dancing, the waving of flags and banners, shouting, and falling. Frequently, some experience an
overwhelming presence of the Holy Spirit when touched by someone. Do not fear; the Bible documents this behavior
in both the Old and New Testaments.
- Ezekiel’s vision
-
Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.
This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell
facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking. (Eze 1:28)
-
So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the LORD was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.
(Eze 3:23)
- Not all succumb to the Spirit at the same time as described by Daniel’s Encounter
-
“I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see
it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves. So I was left
alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly
pale and I was helpless. Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.”
(Dan 10:7-9)
- John 18:6 Describes what happens with Jesus in Gethsemane. When Jesus revels HIS identity, the soldiers and
officials all fell to the ground in response to HIS devine authority.
-
When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
-
In Matthew we read, God’s voice While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them,
and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.
Listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.
(Mat 17:5-6)
- Paul’s Conversion
-
As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground
and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
(Acts 9:3-4)
-
“About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me.
I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’
(Acts 22:6-7)
- John’s Vision described in Revelation4
-
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his
right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.
(Rev 1:17)
Often you will wittness blessings by applying anointing oil as depicted by James 5:15 Is anyone among you sick?
Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
We recognize that the oil does not possess power; however, it represents a simple yet powerful symbolic Spiritual act of
faith. Commonly you will hear the speaking of tongues, All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.(Acts 2:4).
We recognize gifts of the Spirit, including words of knowledge; To one there is given through the Spirit a message
of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another
gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between
spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these
are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
